I wont say sorry

this time. By now you know that this blog does not get updated very often!.

Just a quick look at what the children have been up to.

They boys got “scrappy”.  They really do enjoy all the cutting, pasting, stickers and fancy scissors. I should share this time with them more often. Declan pretty much works alone though Riley does need some help along the way.

This is some work from school . I think a teacher drew this picture and Declan copied it. Very cute.

This is a family picture that Declan drew one evening. In this picture, Daddy is asleep (I will say nothing!!!!), Mummy and Matilda are playing blocks, Riley is doing #2’s(!!!) whilst wearing lipstick (I think he is referring to the time Riley found my lipstick??????) and the last picture is all of us plus Grandma, Opa and Pops.

Here is part of a book that Declan made with his buddy from school last week. It is such a sweet book. His buddy is lovely which is a good thing as they do  a lot of work together.

Well thats all folks,

Sorry :-(

I know I have been very naughty and not looked after this blog so here is a very overdue catch up

Declan has decided to mark his own work. Its so cute. This is some he did recently. Love the ticks. He got everything right!.

This is a monster truck he made. If I had $1 for every drawing of a monster truck I have, I would be a very wealthy lady.

This is a regular sight in our home though not so often now that Matilda can get involved (IYKWIM).  This is just a fraction of the the hot wheels cars they have (last count was 360! Crazy I know).

This is MATILDAS FIRST PIECE OF ARTWORK,  YAY FOR TILLY. Shame it was on the floor but hey you have to start somewhere I guess.

See her lovely colouring in on this giraffe. It was done at Playgroup. She has also started to do some painting, will post some of those next time.

The other morning the boys decided to make things out of their toast. Declan made a dog and Riley made a boat???. How can you tell them not to play with their food when they are being so creative???.

Will try not to leave it so long between posts next time.

No its not Freddy!.

Here are some bits and pieces the boys have done over the past week or so.

This is a picture Declan drew of Matilda with a scary face. Despite how it looks its not a portrait of Freddy Kruger!. She was wearing a pink/white stripe top and blue jeans and it just so happens that is how he saw her that day. I must admit being a little spooked when he showed me the picture.

Declan, with mummys  help, cut out his name and then stuck it on the paper. His cutting skills have really come along recently.

This is some super charged race car. The big rectangle on the front is the motor and the numbers on the side make it go faster.

Riley did this very nice picture of a motorbike for me. That is smoke coming out the back (just like Daddy’s!)

One proud artist.

This is a bird which he made (also with mummys help) at playgroup last week. It now sits proudly on his bed post. He is finally starting to get into the craft side of things. He made me a lovely pasta/bead necklace today (no pics yet). It was good to see him sit down and concentrate on something and not give up after 20 seconds.  A sign of maturity perhaps?.

Its a City

Declan, Riley and Daddy built this amazing Lego skyscraper on the weekend. Declan calls it a “city”. It comes complete with 4 little rooms, each containing a lego man.  It has since undergone a few modifications. Trying to teach to boys that once we build something we will only keep it up for a couple of days and then pull it apart and start something new.

Mr Declan has been busy

He just loves to draw, especially monsters. Here are his latest

the numbers have something to do with his superpowers?????

He has also been working hard on his writing. I think he is doing a wonderful job. Still a bit of a battle to get him to write in lower case (gets that from his father, he NEVER does, always capitals) . This is the alphabet. I am surprised that he left out his 2 favourite letters, N O, ha ha.

Enjoy

Late again.

I know I should have updated weeks ago but better late than never I guess

My boys have been busy and creative as usual, here is a quick update.

On Thursday morning Declan decided to sort out the lego. This is only half of it. We later discovered that he was looking for 1 specific piece, which he didnt find until the following day

p1100556.jpg

Then with the help of dad, the boys built this magnificent house, complete with sirens, lights, guns??? and retractable roof.  I am glad they also made a garden :-)

collage1.jpg

This is a house that Riley built “all by myself” out of blocks

p1100553.jpg

This is how they entertain themselves whilst we have a little sleep in on the weekend :-)    (thanks boys!).

p1100521.jpg

This is a picture of Matilda wearing a football jumper. I will forgive Declan for using red and white, but only just….

p1100538.jpg

This is a self portrait of Declan playing footy in his COLLINGWOOD jumper, much better!

p1100539.jpg

This picture scares me. Its of Declan getting through some of his homework for the holidays. The scary bit is the way he has the paper at right angles, that is exactly how I write. Dont want to pass on my bad habits.  You may also note that he is whistling. Another new trick of his. Very cute but can get a tad annoying IYKWIM

My Clever Boys .

These 2 boys have made some wonderful progress over the past month.

Declan is doing really well with his reading at school. He has a new sentence to learn every week. As a test for him I made up 4 different sentences using all the words he has learnt so far to see how he would go (just incase he was “remembering” the word order rather than reading) and he got them all right!!!!. It amazes Steve and I how quickly he is learning some words though there are others he still struggles with (usually the “little” words ??? )

p1100205.jpg

He is also still being super creative. Here is a “Pirate Party Hat” he made  yesterday.

p1100197.jpg

As you can see, Elmo is more than happy to model it for us.

p1100203.jpg

Riley is starting to draw with alot more details . Here is his latest drawing of a person. He is also taking a real interest in writing his own name as well ( you can see a couple of letters on the LHS of the drawing).

Another Mass Update

Howdy all,

Here is an update as to how creative the boys have been lately.

Here are the first of many master pieces created by Riley on his first day of Kinder. There was a good car drawn under all that scribble.

p1090530.jpg

and here is Declans work as he came along for the day.

p1090531.jpg

Riley has also been exploring the lego alot more and actually starting to build cars and trucks not just walls! (and yes it is a car with a tree on top)

p1090544.jpg

Declan is really doing well with cutting out pictures.

p1090542.jpg

and also drawing people/animals/monsters.  I dont know if its just me being a proud mummy but I find his pictures amazing.  He had a great ability to get personality and emotions into his drawings (and not just draw a “smiley” face).  Note the angry monster and the cat looking off to the side or the self portrait with all the spikey things.

p1090541.jpg

p1090533.jpg

p1090562.jpg

I am also a proud mummy showing off Rileys self portrait. This is a copy of some homework that Declan had to do for School. Riley did a wonderful job and yes they are buttons on his shorts and nothing else.

p1090539.jpg

Hopefully it wont be too long until Miss Matilda can start to contribute to this blog as well.

Take care

Mosaic Lego

This was a christmas present from their Grandma in Tasmania. Its been a huge success.  As you can see you use small lego pieces and a template to make lots of different pictures. Of course the car has been the top choice to make. Here is Declan having a go. He did a fantastic job.

p1090146.jpg

p1090168.jpg

Riley also built this building with some pop on blocks. They are probably a little young for him but he still loves playing with them. You can build really tall towers that dont fall down.

They have been creative….

its just that I have not had time to update the blog so here we go.

Declan has started taking a pen and notepad to bed and drawing when he should be asleep!. The first picture is of a Ben10 monster (Declan) with a man on his back (Riley) and the second is of a Ninja Turtle, complete with you know what!.

p1080992.jpg

I purchased the boys some glitter glue the other day and they have loved using it (I even stole some for my last page, will have to get myself some for my scrapping stash!).

Here is a car that Declan did

p1080993.jpg

He also wrote his name.

p1080995.jpg

Riley’s work was a little more abstract, he did stuggle with the glue pens.

p1080994.jpg

Though he do a wonderful drawing of a car last week, such a clever boy.

p1090003.jpg

Here they are posing with some other pictures proudly hanging on the wall next to their beds

p1080979.jpg

p1080971.jpg

and lastly here is a sculpture Declan made with the magnetic stix and balls we borrowed from Grandma.  These have been a real challenge for him but he finally got his head around it.

p1080959.jpg

see they have been very busy.
